Inaugural Pigskin Classic

Had a blast at the downtown 5k this morning. It was the first pigskin classic. They gave out blue or red shirts depending on your team preference. I of course chose blue!

I will post pics later but here is a quickie run down on the race.

Took 2nd overall for females and am very pleased with my run. I was not expecting anything spectacular so I was pleasantly surprised to come in under 21 minutes. Especially considering the windy conditions and the hill coming up the stretch.

Splits:

Mile 1:6:23
Mile 2:6:49
Mile 3.1: 7:42
Time 20:55
Pace 6:44

Not too shabby.

I got a really awesome embroidered fleece blanket! B2 took 9th overall males so he got the blanket too! Go BLUE!!!

Maybe the mud-pie was the key! :)

Congrats on the 2nd place finish! The race sounds like fun. The game was heartbreaking.

Uggh shoreturtle I didn't get to watch as we don't have cable and I was working on some edits for my job and just now checked the score. Rubbish I say!

Not too shabby is right! Awesome race :)

Have you found info on the Buckeye 50K? I'll be running 50K solo next week. I can't find a 50K in MN or within a few hours driving distance until April.

Now, if I lived in CA, I'd have many many to chose from!

Was there a big game or something? Wicked good race there! Congratulations on the 2nd place. (kidding about the game)

Hey, nice race, and loot! You are smoking fast!! I thought about doing that race, but wanted to save up for the half.

It was pretty cold yesterday morning! I can't believe you just had shorts on! (But then again, I overdress for all races, and then end up boiling once the internal furnace kicks in.)

Thanks everyone! It was very fun.

Julie B I have not heard anything about Buckeye 50 K yet. CK is telling me not to do it as it will probably be snowy and might be miserable. I am just going to go with the flow and not make a decision about it until the last minute.

Wow! What's your PR?

I was going to do a 5K Turkey Trot, because I've been told that's what Americans do for Thanksgiving...

Regardless, congrats on the great time and 2nd place finish!

PR for 5k is 20:03 but that was in 96 I believe when I weighed in at a mere 105 lbs. I am still hoping to break 20 one of these days!

I am doing the Detroit 10K turkey trot on Thansgiving. Great way to start the day!

Wow - that is a good time. My god you're speedy! Well done on coming second - that's great!

Nice work, Elizabeth. 52 seconds within your 9 year old PR. I'd take that.

Thanks CJ and Zeke. I am extremely pleased with the race. Honestly that is probably only the 3rd or 4th time in my life that I ran under 21. What is awesome is that it wasn't too painful. So I think there is room for improvement.
