I was thinking of all of you as I crossed those 5k mats. It definitely helped me push the pace when I wasn't feeling so hot! I kept telling myself that people were tracking me and I had to do well.

Holy crud! Yay for Eastern Ohio! (My grandparents live up in Cuyahoga Co. which is the immediate Cleveland vicinity). What's up with "5K mats"? Why would you need a mat, anyhow? Sounds like a curb---they'd have to ban wheelchairs, which they might not be able to bc of the ADA law). Maybe I don't understand what a "mat" even is. Did most of my racing in 90-92, though, as a kid.
