apparently does boil. That's right folks I do occasionally help out around the house with mundane chores like cooking :) Tonight I am making rice with herbs and salmon. Yum!
Last night was a good running night. Got out with the Tuesday gang, we were short a few triathletes but we had a fun time regardless.
It was B2s b-day so we cut all the hard work out and just ran (plus three of us are running races this weekend).
3 loops. So 6+ miles. I ran with J the first lap. We talked marathons and I decided I am definitely doing Chicago in October. I paid for my registration today. Now I just need to fax them my Columbus Results so I get a preferred start. First Loop: 18:08
2nd loop I hung back with the girls and took it easy. BB is going to kick butt in her first half this weekend. I can't wait to see her and SS do Cleveland. My mentees rock! Loop 2: 19:37
3rd loop B2 and J and I picked up the pace a bit and chit chatted some more about upcoming races etc. It was nice to run with the boys :) Loop 3: 16:14
After the run we went downtown to celebrate with B2. We started at Johnny Mangos but their big table was being occupied by a group of 4 who didn't want to move. As we were going to be a group of 11 we headed down the street to Heck's Cafe. As good as the tacos sounded Heck's was divine. I had a steak and portabella mushroom salad and it was to die for. Also had a glass of Merlot. It was a fun crowd. It was nice to just kick back and enjoy dinner and company. Mouse will be glad to know there were some Michigan fans in the group so I was accepted right away ;)
I was going to try out the mental toughness DVD tonight but I am having second thoughts. I think I am going to attempt to race pretty hard on Sunday so I am going to save my legs a bit. I did the Runner's World Ab workout from the February Mag last night and my hips are feeling a bit off. Don't want to push anything too much until the race :)
I might hop on for a quick ride after dinner. Since I got this blogging thing taken care of ;) But I am planning on swimming in the morning so I want to get to bed early. decisions decisions!
I guess I should put this out there, depending on how my legs feel being that it is winter and I haven't really trained for it, I am going to try and PR on Sunday. That will mean holding 7:25 pace. I know that it is in my legs, it is just a matter of whether it is in the cards this weekend. I am not going to push it. If I go out and 7:25 isn't slightly comfortable I am going to ease back and try for 7:35-7:50s. But lets hope for some magic ;)
More on Phoenix tomorrow!

Wooohooo .... sounds like someone is pumped and ready to rock! ..... Yeah for you!
Ah, I plan on starting up that RW ab program post-marathon as well. Sometimes ab work makes my back hurt, so I decided to wait until after the marathon to mess anything up. LOL...
Can not wait to meet you!!! :)
I guess you're not the only person going for a PR. Did you see Haile Gebrselassie is attempting to set a world half-marathon record on Sunday in Arizona? Gonna be a fast race with the two of you in it!
wow, kurt...i had no idea that haile was going to race. man...az is only a four hour drive...
that salmon dish sounds great, e! best wishes for a speedy race on sunday. remember, go out slow and save some for the kick!
You're going to rock in Arizona! Hopefully I'll get to meet you and some other RBFers. :) And good call with Chicago...I'm running that one, too! The crowd support here is like nothing else!!
Don't do Mental Toughness before a race because if you use the gears Coach Troy says to use you legs will be toast. Also, I've done the RW abs workout a couple of times and I can sure feel it the next day. It must be working!
That's the great thing about running, you never know which "you" is going to show up come race day.
Good luck, hope the "fast" Elizabeth get's her pace going.
Man everyone is going to be in Phoenix but me, and I am only 100 miles south! Have fun and good luck!
Maybe I'll into after the race... I'll lookout for the tent you mentioned...
best of luck to you, you fast gal!
Good luck in Phoenix this weekend! You're going to do AWESOME! I can't wait to read all the race reports!
