So I decided to go to the tuesday group run :) I know I know so fickle!
But I am glad I went. I got in around 7 miles in an hour and feel much better than before I went out. (no splits because I still haven't made it back to peak to look for my watch)
I got there later than usual but still managed to get in 3 and a half+ loops. Second loop we did landmark fartleks. I ran with B and CK and managed to do alright. They definitely creamed me on the last 2 out of 6 fartleks though. And of course since B got to pick a landmark first we did the dang hill at 80% (90 for me to keep up with their 80) anyways. I did the third loop backwards with CK so I had to go up the big hill too. I am sure my quads will be thanking me tomorrow.
CK told me about a cool team tri event that lasts 3 days and you do a full ironman over the entire weekend. Sounds fun. I may have to con A and Curly Su into this one.
I am off to make myself some dinner. Maybe a holiday post will follow...who knows with my decisive track record though ;)

Good for you! Running is so much more fun than work.....Run more work less!
My quads never thank me. Sometimes they get pissy and tell me they don't want to run today .... but never a thank you .... sniff.
How does this Ironman over the weekend work?
Is it a relay?
I need to make it to a Tuesday night run!!! Ahhhhhh!!!
What the heck is a fartlek??
okolo-it actually works differently than i thought. I thought it was a 3 person team. But it is either solo or 2 person (regardless you complete the whole Ironman distance yourself). And I was under the impression that your registration included the cost of the cabin for the weekend but after closer inspection it doesn't look like that is the case... http://www.americantriple-t.com/index.php
cy- fartlek is a running term. I think of german origin. Basically a run where you run quickly for a predetermined time or distance than ease it off for a time or distance then repeat. Last night we just let each person pick the distance. i.e. run hard to the next tree or top of the hill etc.
Man, I'm moving. Your area sounds like it has all sorts of cool events. An indoor tri, Ironman's over a weekend.
Awesome pick on the video too. Great start for the year.
And if I haven't mentioned it already, Happy New Year!
Elizabeth - Sorry for correcting you on your own blog, but the word "Fartlek" is Swedish and it means "speedplay." Good for you for working those into your running...they will make you faster. Keep it up.
Ah. Here I thought it was the sound that you make when you run too hard too fast.
jay t- yeah Ohio seems to be a good place for runners and triathletes alike.
ahh steven that's why I said "i think" ;) I was too lazy to look it up!
Thanks though I knew it had a succint definition!
I usually do fartleks on tempo days but I have always done timed fartleks. Never did them from one landmark to the next. It was fun.
haha cy :)
