Monday Monday

Ok so I really just have no clue what to call this post.

I am pretty beat and I have a lot to write but it isn't going to happen tonight.

But the ocd in me has to tell everyone that I ran 16 miles yesterday and I wogged 2 miles tonight with my husband. My right knee is feeling a little funky and my left ankle hurts pretty bad. This does not make me a happy camper. This time last year is when my ITB flared up. I was really excited to be at Chili Bowl this year sans injuries. Of course then just as I ended my warm up I felt the "twinge" in my right knee. Grrr.

I am icing and calling it quits on my old Mizuno's in hopes that it is just a combo of the old shoes and running in snow that have caused these aches and pains. We shall have to wait and see how tomorrows group run goes.

Great run... how I dream of doing 16 mile long runs... Sounds like you know what to do to prevent further injury.

Oh, injuries... what a drag. I swear by the ice too...keep it up and you'll be on the go in no time...

Just stick your knee in a snowdrift on the road! That'll do the trick! :) hee hee Hope it feels better soon!

Wonderful job on the race and way to hang tough that extra 8 miles you had on me Sunday. I can only imagine how frozen you must have been given my frozen pony tail and behind in half that distance! At any rate, it was awesome to meet ya this weekend and am looking forward to doing some future runs! -Janet

Seems like the signal for me to buy new shoes is aches and pains. When my feet ache after a run, if I go back to the calendar and check, then sure enough, it's time for new shoes. Hopefully that and the icing will help.

Greetings! Welcome to CTC.
You've heard of R.I.C.E.?
I added S to the acronym.
Rest. Ice. Compress. Elevation. Shoes

Be rid of the old shoes. Also running in snow causes you to change your stride somewhat and even a little change can lead to some hurting. You should be fine with new shoes and no snow!

My right achilles is acting up, and I'm starting to wonder if it is the shoes.

It has only been 2 1/2 months on these shoes, but the last time I had this pain it was the shoes.

Keep us updated.

How often do you replace your shoes? (time or mileage)

Those darn ITBs. Do they have ITB replacement surgery? Hopefully, it was just the day and you are feeling better for the next run.
