Checklists and Random Thoughts

Sitting here in this hot hot heat making up my checklist for the weekend. Missed my bike workout I was going to try and squeeze in tonight but I will get it in tomorrow or not worry about it. It was brutal running in this heat last night so if I have to forfeit a workout I won't be too upset about it. I will get to do a short ride and swim Friday so I can get reacquainted with Fiona then.

I think this is about all I will need for the race weekend. If you see something I am missing let me know!

I am so far behind on posts. Work has been nuts. So much for no stress during taper week huh? I had a great weekend at the Buckeye 50k and hanging out with my running pals. Even managed to make up the swim I missed Friday due to the pool being broken. How bout them apples? Can't wait to get a chance to write all about it, let's just say I was super inspired and super humbled!

We leave tomorrow night and will stop at my parents then Friday we head to Benton Harbor to check in our bikes and meet some bloggers for dinner. Saturday it's on! No turning back now.

Very excited for your race!!! List looks good--do you need lip balm? I always have a Lip Smacker somewhere on me on the bike and run--can't stand chapped lips! :)

Thanks for the checklist, I was going to make mine this afternoon to pack for tonight.

Think I'll just copy yours and edit it for myself.

The heat is gone, race is less than 48 hours away.

Wow, I just got chills typing that. See ya Friday.

good luck Elizabeth!

do you have your sodium strategy as insurance in case it's humid as well as hot?

looks like you've got everything nailed for race day! oh, always have a pocket knife in your transition bag. and, do you use a small, shallow bucket to rinse your feet?

have a GREAT race. i can't wait to hear how good that chocolate milk tasted at the end!

Current weather has us as 85 with 64% humidity - I'd definitely add endurolytes or lava salts as Bolder suggested. I keep mine in an empty mini M&M container - those things are awesome for storing meds and keeping them dry.

Another trick I learned during the Triple-T - bring a plastic grocery bag with you. When you go to get your wetsuit on, put the plastic bag around your foot and then slide it through the leg of your wetsuit. You'll be amazed at how easy it makes getting your wetsuit on.

Good luck this weekend!

Good luck! You are going to kick some serious bootay. Can't wait to hear all about it. Good idea to pin your chip on for a little extra insurance. Mine fell off in the swim in my first race, and I've pinned it ever since. Also, be careful with the spray-on sunscreen. None of the people I know that have used it have had good luck (think polka-dots).
