Training?

I think I am having couch potato envy lately. I am really struggling with waking up early enough to get in my swims. At least I have managed to get in a couple of bike rides and runs most weeks. This weekend I had zero training and tonight I decided I better mow the lawn and pull weeds. So I am starting to have more and more rest days and less training days.

Oh and Habeela has kindly reminded me I have a freaking Half Ironman to do on August 5th. Crap.

All I want to do is play PS2.

My left arm can barely move right now from using the weed whacker. I am obviously much weaker than I should be this close to the longest tri I will have ever done. Yikes!

I need to get on the horn. Tomorrow I am going to take a long hard look at my training for the next few weeks and figure out how to make a schedule that I can adhere to and then I will just have to stick to it.

Happy notes:
Friday night was relay for life. I attempted to put up a tent for my friends to use, but because we were on astro turf and not allowed to use pegs it just wouldn't work. But it was very amusing for all around to watch as we tried to get this thing to stand for almost an hour.

By that time my hour was nearing and I had not had dinner, so I scarfed down some sunchips and cookies and took the smirnoff G offered me since I would have to leave after my run and wouldn't be able to partake in festivities later. My run seemed very long and the music was less than stellar but I survived. I ran 27 laps in lane 6 so I figure that was about 7.2 miles.

Got home super late and went straight to bed, woke up around 5:30 AM and packed then took David's parents to the airport on our way to Michigan and the wedding.

The wedding this weekend was lovely. My cousin looked beautiful.

There was some good ribbing to be had after my uncles prayer turned public sermon. Poor guy must have had some nerves going because he sure rattled on, and on, and on :)

We went to one of my fave restaurants yesterday for lunch, Olga's, and I had more than my fair share of snackers as well as an orange cream cooler. Afterwards we headed to my cousins to watch them open gifts and then we played cards.

Talked to my postal hockey playing cousin and we discussed customizing my bike helmet. He is the goal tender on his hockey team and he painted two sweet ass helmets for himself so he is going to hook me up and paint mine to go with my bike. Pretty cool.

David and I made the trip home and I pretty much crashed right away. Today at work was rough. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Caught up on all my blog reading so you have all been read :)

Oh other exciting tidbit that is related to training. I am sending in my app for a trail marathon in Michigan in September. Totally stoked. I think Mouse is going to do this one too and I may have convinced A to run it with us!

when I used to have go swim at 5 or 5:30 in the mornings I found it very easy to skip them. But since moving my swim times to lunch hours I find I am much more consistent with getting wet.

I don't know if your job or duties would allow you to make a similar move, but that worked for me.

Just a thought!

Don't worry. From the training log to the right you're way ahead on mileage. :) You'll be fine!

Not sure what Sunchips are, but over here Smirnoff is Vodka so I'm sure it is something completely different over there ....... right? Perhaps that explains your appreciation of the music.

Glad to hear you had a good time at the wedding! When are you going to invite us over to play Dance Dance Revolution? The ultimate cross training experience!

I tend to have the same soreness after working in the yard. I say you count it as strength training.

Something about summer.i can't get up at 5 to train no more..I am sure it is just a mental thing..

Personally i rather go for a bike ride than mow the lawn and pull weeds :)

The best training plan is not the one that looks best on paper; it's the one you actually will and can do.

You are very wise to recognize that you have to plan something that you can stick to.

Random fun: I use the "Next Blog" feature to find new people to read. After just a few clicks today, It took me to Wil's blog, who I recognized as a regular reader/commenter here.

Small world, huh?

See you this weekend at the wedding!

Sucks that your arm hurts. I'm sure you'll be plenty ready when the tri comes around.

Looking forward to seeing your helmet when it's painted!

Sounds like a great weekend - and those were beautiful pictures from the wedding. Sometimes it's hard to get back into a routine when you've been away. Maybe the trail marathon will inspire you - though I don't suppose it's going to help with the swimming. I've got a trail half coming up in August that I'm excited about - I've run a trail 5K before, but that's it.

Do what I do when I have couch potato envy ... just remind yourself that you're a badass and couch potatoes are not badasses.

I'm with you on the training schedule issue, as I need to tinker with mine a lot.

Oh that would be so sweet to get a custom helmet. I'm jealous.

I thought you were going to say your left arm hurt from playing PS2. :) What are you favorite games?

We all need some rest days. You have plenty of time until your half. Looking at your track time, I know you will do fantastic on the run.

Great pictures of the wedding. I love your blue dress!
