I did not find my passport or Belize photos on my last trip home but I did find my high school cross country banquet books. Cool! My coach freshman and sophomore year was an amazing and demanding coach. He kept a very detailed log of the season for all the girls. For every race I ran in 95 and 96 I know all my mile splits! Crazy! The 1997 book only has the final times and no meet details and in 1998 we didn't get any individual stuff just year average etc. But it's probably better left unknown as you can see from 97 I went way downhill after 96.

I was interested in finding all these splits to see if I have learned a thing in all this time I have been racing. And I found out, not really :) Hah! But I am happy that my 5k times lately are closer to those from 95/96 than those from 97-2003.

Looking at my 5k mile splits it is clear that I always go out too fast. So next 5k I need to try really hard to reel myself in that first mile and aim for even splits. I'll let you know how it goes!

this is seriously so, so, so bizarre, because we ran against each other SO MANY TIMES and never knew each other! good grief! hilarious! i'm going to have to try to find my books next time I go home to see if I can find you in them... :)

It sounds like you had an awesome coach. That is very cool to have all your times.

You really do start out flying the first mile. If I ever ran a 6:06 mile, I would probably stop and do a happy dance. You fly, girl!

wow ... those times are all over the place ... but still good times

see, i'm torn between wanting to smack you (but you're really too cute) and high five you (but that's so 1983).

i'm very impressed, but officially hate that you were running in school in the late 90s. have you no respect for your elders?

Please tell me you were able to cut-n-paste all these stats?

When I was in school, we didn't even have watches with splits that I recall - finish time, that's it.

i hope you copy and pasted all that

VERY Impressive!! I'm with MOJO...if I ever ran a 6:06 mile I'd say "to hell with the 5k, let's celebrate right now!!"

Dang I wish I could run a 5K that fast! I can barely run one mile with your split times :)

well after I plugged it all into Excel I copied and pasted into Blogger.

You've been fast for a long time. It's cool to have those old records. I want to see you snap 20 minutes Eliz...this year??

grrr...can you send me your new RSS feed? I can't seem to find it on your page for some reason...i need to update my bloglines.

That's a lot of numbers, even for a numbers geek like me.

holy cow. I'd been believing Cross Country races were 10K for years now. What a fool I am!

depends on the race Ryan. When I left the Berg girls were moving towards 6,000 meters and the boys had been running 6,000+ for awhile.
