Quickie

Just wanted to post quick to let everyone know the status of the foot is good. I ran 4 miles Tuesday on the dread with no pain.

Tuesday night I found out the whole speed on the treadmill thing is going to be ugly. Treadmills are not my friend! I swear someone slows down time while I am on that thing and also mixes up the paces. 7:04 pace should not feel like 5:04 pace yet it always does for me on the treadmill. Uggh! What does not kill me...

I signed up for Flying Pig and we will just have to see whether it is a race day for me or a pace day for me. I have lots of friends aiming for BQs so I could end up pacing one of them if I am not in shape for a run at a PR level.

I am off to the pool now and tonight I am trying out my first ever yoga class with a few coworkers and my buds Jen and Sara. Looking forward to it!

Enjoy the yoga class!

Keep meaning to stop by and say thanks for directing me to Deidre's blog. I was starting to get worried that this thing might keep me from running forever but one little introduction to Deidre and all things are once again possible. :) Thanks!

Horray for the foot!

I haven't found anyone that loves treadmills.

Good luck!

Hooray for the foot! Before you know it, we'll be back on Marginal again running against the wind!

Now that I have a Garmin, I can see why treadmills feel so hard. When you run outside, your pace varies and you can slow down when you need to. Overall, the pace is the same, but the feel is different. I find that running one of the programs helps tremendously. Then, I just have to concentrate on making the interval, not how much time left I have in total. Ipod helps too!

See you tonight!

Glad to hear your foot is healing.
Enjoy your yoga class. Remember to breathe. If done right you'll notice a difference when you walk out of the class.

The treadmill is always more of a mental workout for me! I think it wrecked my form last year so this year I'm avoiding it with gusto, unless I'm doing an easy recovery run.

Enjoy the yoga class - I added yoga to my training this year and absolutely love it.

3Iron is SO right! Running is as much mental as it is physical (maybe even moreso). The mental strength you will build from pounding out the miles on the 'mill will pay dividents out on your marathon course... in the form of patience, concentration, and positive attitude. Recipe for success right there.

Good luck with the running! And swimming and biking and yoga'ing!

I agree with you. The dreadmill lies! No way the pace indicated can be the pace we run. It seems far too fast.

Glad your foot is better. Yoga wih some friends always a good thing.

I actually like using the treadmill at the gym, it beats running alone sometimes. Plus easier on the body. So they say.

i hate the dread. will only use it when forced by act of God.
good luck with the foot.

Yeah, a treadmill sounds less enticing than even a boring trail. Plus you could get all hot and stuffy running indoors...unless you are at a big gym. Are you treadmilling at home or in a gym?
But what do I know...I run in a year what you run in a week. Oh well, enjoy your feet!

some yoga advice? do NOT do yoga after a run if you've put some of that slickery anti-blister stuff on your feet. you'll come out with a banged up nose after a failed down-facing dog!

you might enjoy the pacing. mark loves it. i think your personality would be ideal for it. so really... it's a win win pig pig.

Glad your foot is better! Tell us about the yoga class. I can't seem to fit the ones at the gym in my schedule so I broke down and bought the "Iron Yoga" dvd.

I do like the treadmill when it's that or 3 inches of snow!

I'm still somewhat on the fence about the damn Piggy! **sigh**
