Calling All Creative Wordsmiths

*Update* You've got till Friday (3/24) to get your suggestions up!!! Some are starting to get a bit inappropriate so if you don't see yours up keep it a bit cleaner. Thanks!

Okay I need your help.

With the vast amounts of creativity out in the blogosphere our Great Midwest Relay team still has not come up with a perfect name.

This run is all about 12 kick ass bloggers getting together and racing from Madison to Chicago over 48 hours in 2 large vans.

So here's the deal. Start making some suggestions! If your name gets picked by the team I am offering up a Wild Bill Shirt! That's right you can run around town in a sweet Wild Bill T-Shirt just like me!

So start making suggestions!

Hmmm... I am pretty lame but here are a few to get other's juice flowing:

The Dirty Dozen
RBF's 12 (like Ocean's 12 hee hee)
The RBF Dozen
12 Cracked Eggs
2 Vans and a Plan
48 Hours of Fun

LMAO - Like I said E, I am lame!

Good luck on both the relay and the group name!

Let me think about this. When do you need it?

I am not a creative wordsmith - I like what you already wrote: kick-ass bloggers. Good name!

Jeepers I really want the T-shirt but I'm so tired I'm drawing a blank on a name. Just picked up on your blog a few days ago. I've really enjoyed it. I've added you to my favourites. I have about 10 blogs now that all seem to help keep me motivated for my own goal.

Good luck on the name game.

I can see why naming the team is taking so long! I'll go ahead and start the brainstorming session, anyway:

Road Trippers
Ultra the Easy Way
Double Barrel
Lake Breeze
Dude, Where's My Van?

Thanks everyone!

Anonymous if you want the shirt you will have to reveal your name! ;)

I know, e-speed, but I think that runnergirl's 2 Vans and a Plan is leading the race at this point, anyway.

OK, I've run a few relays and as you realize the name is the most important aspect. I don't know why nobody hasn't come up with this because it seems so obvious:

Bloggers with Boogers

I suppose something like:

1 athlete and 11 bloggers
Powered by Blogger
Wings Beer And A Biscuit
Team Nightcrawlers
When The Fit Hits The Shan
Team Dysentery We Got The Runs
Team Rawhide
Run Or Die!!!
Masochists In Motion
Can You Smell The Love?
Nap Between Legs
Burple Haze
Ice Between Your Legs

So, I have no idea what a Wild Bill t-shirt would look like, but I WANT it! Here goes:

Blogger's Dozen
Dozin' Dozen
The Bloggin' Bunch
Bloggers for Beer
Midwest Muckrakers
Radical Relay Team
RBF Relayers
12 Runners, 24 Shoes, 48 Hours
RBF meets GMR
Shin Splints and Schlitz

Personally, my favorite is the last one; of course, it assumes that everyone is familiar with Schlitz beer: "Schlitz will give you the shits!"

I have to agree with the Dirty Dozen with the tag line. "If our van be a rockin, don't come a knocking."

"Beer to Brauts"
"Da Bloggers"
"12 ways to Chicago"
"Are we there yet?"

Family Vacation
Family Values

I like these names because the "Family" calls back to the F in RBF. Many of the RBFers have values (fitness, perseverance, freedom, confidence, challenge, peace, and so on) that are either rooted in or reflected by running, hence the name Family Values.

While the term "family values" has also been applied in a political/religious context to alienate certain segments of society, it should be understood that the name "Family Values" as applied in the context of GMR, where runners of all abilities and lifestyles gather together to enjoy an exciting event, reflects the benefits that running can bring into the lives of all.

Trust this eternally clumsy person and new runner, who was told he has the lungs of a smoker, and who once nearly lost a leg. Running can do great things for everyone.

Vote for running, vote Family Values!
