Get right back up again

Got up early and headed to Pepper Pike despite the looming storms. Got in a very nice run with my gals. 8 miles in the rain worrying whether or not we would get struck by lightning. These are the runs you remember! Thankfully it wasn't raining at the start or I probably would have had to run solo. Even the craziest of runners struggles to start when it's raining buckets I think.

I woke up late so despite having two days off my legs didn't feel shockingly fresh or anything with no fuel before the run. I've been pretty good about eating breakfast before my morning runs lately. This morning it was just half a glass of juice and water on the run.

I feel refreshed though and ready to tackle the day. I think I needed a good long run in the rain.

I think I like running in the rain. That way I'm not the only one who looks drenched when we are done. It levels out the playing field.
I bought a nice rain coat from VR around 7 months ago. If I bring it on the run it won't rain, if I leave it at home we find a monsoon. The guys almost make me bring it just to guarantee no rain.

Hey Elizabeth, just saw in your last post that you're doing the JFK again this year. I'm signed up as well, it'll be my first! I've read your blog for awhile, and admire your spirit as much as your speed. Can't wait to see how your training unfolds this fall and maybe we'll cross paths in MD :)

Some of my favorite runs have been in the rain. There's something really relaxing about, especially early in the morning.

I hope your non-running life gets with the program and realizes it needs to step aside and let you get your runs in!

I love a good sprinkle, but running through cats and dogs just isn't fun for me. Wet feet and squishy shoes make me feel miserable.

Hmm...what are the XC races?

Missed you at Yoga last night. Sorry you've had to work so much lately. I look forward to seeing you soon!

Glad you got your run in. My swim was cancelled by the lightning.

The run in the rain can motivate the mind.

What aid station will you be at for BR100?

Those runs in the rain seem to cure all!

Once last summer Debi, Kurt, and I did an 18 mile long run in consistent Towpath eroding fierce storms. It was a memorable run. The sun came out the last mile to steam us up real nice. I like running in all weather!

It's a nice to change to run in the rain once in a while, very cleansing.

As usual, I'm late to the party. I do hope the aid station duty went well for both you, the other volunteers and especially the runners. Can't imagine what shape they were in at that stage in the race. Good for you for being there for them!
