Good Sign

It's 6 AM and I am up and getting ready to head to the pool.

This is a good sign that I may be able to climb out of this funk I have been in!

My trick? I set David's alarm clock to wake me up instead of mine. What you may not know about me is I am a snooze aholic. I can press the snooze for hours and literally fall right back to sleep after every snooze. Our bed is so comfy and most mornings it is much too difficult for me to drag myself out of bed. It seems to get especially difficult in the winter when it seems to always be dark and cold. I am hoping this new trick will keep me waking up earlier and getting more done in the morning!

This weekend was productive despite feeling like crap. Friday I had a migraine and stayed home but I got all my holiday cards addressed and I finally finished A's scarf that I started for her 2 years ago! Saturday was candy making day. I cut back on the amount I am giving this year but still went to help David's mom and sister with the production of the candy. My head was fuzzy all day long but I managed to survive. A nice surprise this year was that we were done with everything including clean up by 10 PM. And that was after starting an hour late. The third person really helped!

Yesterday I didn't manage to get out of bed to run but after sleeping in super late I did get up and start to tackle the mess that has overtaken the house. I got caught up on all the dishes and laundry and cleaned up the living room and hall.

Last week I did get in 2 short runs at a pretty slow pace. Today I am going to start my "official" training to PR my 5k in February. Looks like I will be spending some time on the treadmill to get in some speed work. This could get ugly ;)

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one with snooze issues! Dan and I are both like this, so it's fun trying to get one another out of bed. Early mornings STINK! Yes, I love being productive early on, but I love my bed too!

Hope you had a great weekend. Sorry to hear about the migraine!

Glad to see you are on the comeback. You were obviously burned out, mentally and physically, so the break was necessary and will leave you more refreshed to tackle your next goal.

Sometimes the break helps to train better. All my support for the boring runs on the treadmill!

Good luck on your training for a PR. Are you using any special program? FIRST has a good one for you.

I've moved my alarm clock out of arms reach. That way I have to get out of bed to shut it off. Once I'm out of bed I do pretty good. Really pisses my wife off though as it takes a while to shut it off.

I plan for 3 snoozes every day. I can fall back asleep with no problem in between each.

Sorry to hear about the migraine. I felt your pain literally all weekend. Must have been the weather.

ughhhh. I had a migraine on Sunday, so don't feel alone. They really kick my tail!

I can hit the snooze a dozen times and never wake up enough to know what I'm doing.

Nice work on getting up and heading to the pool!

Yeah. That snooze problem sounds painfully familiar. I'm thinking I should move to Mexico:) Girl, you have been working your butt off. It was about time you took some official rest anyway. A 5k pr goal with mostly treadmill work?!? I can't think of a more painful thing, except marathon training... Glad to see you back!

Good luck!

I can get really bad with a snooze button too. I love my bed.. so much.. it is near impossible to get out of!

During the winter that snooze button seems to be a best friend. You are not alone. Welcome back to training.

My snooze issues suddenly disappeared when G-s0n entered my life!

I will be interested in your 5K training to PR. I hope you post your schedule.

Put that alarm clock WAYYYY across the room, so you can't even turn it to snooze from the bed...then set it on a station that completely annoys you and I guarantee that you will get up out of bed! :-)
Glad you are feeling better....take it easier this winter. It's "off season"-remember? (But do as I say, not as I do!)
