There was tons of entertainment during the game the other night.

Butterflies anyone?
It is 6 AM and we are heading out the door. My poor husband is going to have more marathon mania today than he would like I am sure.
I was really exhausted and dehydrated yesterday. Feeling better this morning but we shall see what happens!
The weather channel says it is already 56. I think I need to change my race outfit plans. I will just take everything to the start ;)
See you all at the finish line!

Packing
Thats right we saved it for last minute ;)
I am packing everything up and hopefully I didn't miss anything. Still not sure what I am racing in. Arizona is going to be hot but it is cool in the morning. I think I am going with my Pearl Izumi shorts brooks sports bra and white boston tee...not set in stone though.
I will be changing to cheer though into my pink wild bill gear! So I should be easy to spot!
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend! Hopefully I will spot you or see you for dinner at Los Olivos afterwards!
Hopefully posting won't be completely sparse but I will be on vacation this week. I plan on logging some desert runs and taking lots of pics so watch out when I get back for a huge update and some photos!

Heck Yes!
Just got back from Century Cycles with my spd inserts and cleats, woot woot. I have attached them and am heading down to try out my new Time shoes!
A watched skillet...
apparently does boil. That's right folks I do occasionally help out around the house with mundane chores like cooking :) Tonight I am making rice with herbs and salmon. Yum!
Last night was a good running night. Got out with the Tuesday gang, we were short a few triathletes but we had a fun time regardless.
It was B2s b-day so we cut all the hard work out and just ran (plus three of us are running races this weekend).
3 loops. So 6+ miles. I ran with J the first lap. We talked marathons and I decided I am definitely doing Chicago in October. I paid for my registration today. Now I just need to fax them my Columbus Results so I get a preferred start. First Loop: 18:08
2nd loop I hung back with the girls and took it easy. BB is going to kick butt in her first half this weekend. I can't wait to see her and SS do Cleveland. My mentees rock! Loop 2: 19:37
3rd loop B2 and J and I picked up the pace a bit and chit chatted some more about upcoming races etc. It was nice to run with the boys :) Loop 3: 16:14
After the run we went downtown to celebrate with B2. We started at Johnny Mangos but their big table was being occupied by a group of 4 who didn't want to move. As we were going to be a group of 11 we headed down the street to Heck's Cafe. As good as the tacos sounded Heck's was divine. I had a steak and portabella mushroom salad and it was to die for. Also had a glass of Merlot. It was a fun crowd. It was nice to just kick back and enjoy dinner and company. Mouse will be glad to know there were some Michigan fans in the group so I was accepted right away ;)
I was going to try out the mental toughness DVD tonight but I am having second thoughts. I think I am going to attempt to race pretty hard on Sunday so I am going to save my legs a bit. I did the Runner's World Ab workout from the February Mag last night and my hips are feeling a bit off. Don't want to push anything too much until the race :)
I might hop on for a quick ride after dinner. Since I got this blogging thing taken care of ;) But I am planning on swimming in the morning so I want to get to bed early. decisions decisions!
I guess I should put this out there, depending on how my legs feel being that it is winter and I haven't really trained for it, I am going to try and PR on Sunday. That will mean holding 7:25 pace. I know that it is in my legs, it is just a matter of whether it is in the cards this weekend. I am not going to push it. If I go out and 7:25 isn't slightly comfortable I am going to ease back and try for 7:35-7:50s. But lets hope for some magic ;)
More on Phoenix tomorrow!

An old post
Original Post can be found here. Not a very good recap. I believe my writing skills have indeed improved since starting this whole blogging thing in 04.
In answer to the queries. Yes I was attacked by a goose :) Luckily it did not end in any injuries and now is funny and quite a good tale. At the time I was terrified, of course :)
If I could only explain to you the sound I heard and how clueless I was to it's source until the damn goose was almost right on top of me. It sounded like a freaking helicopter coming at my head. In retrospect I have no clue how my husband convinced me to walk back by the stupid goose to get into the apartment. I should have just gone around the long way. That goose was out for blood, mine! That goose smelled the fear in me and he couldn't wait to get his webs on my bike rack! I think my husband would have been fine, the goose wasn't concerned with him at all, that is until he started chasing him away from me with my purple flip flops.
Ahh memories :)
Unfortunately since the night of "The Attack" I have been extremely wary of geese. I go way out of my way to avoid them. This can be a real pain while riding your bike and running. Better safe than sorry though right?
We brought up the story at David's grandparents on Christmas. His grandfather told us about this goose that used to hang out at the pond he fished in. He said the goose was always hissing at everyone, scaring the crap out of them. One day the goose snuck up on him and stuck his neck out and started hissing at him. This is exactly how his grandfather reacted according to him. "I grabbed him by the neck and kicked his ass." I laughed so hard :) He said that goose never bothered him again.

Just get out the door!
Sometimes I find that procrastinating pays off. Sometimes actions that you think might kick you in the butt end in a sweet surprise. That is what happened today.
I bailed on my morning group run. Just wasn't feeling the drive that early after little sleep (I like to get 8 hours and had only had 6ish) Plus my arch was a little sore and I wasn't sure I was up for a hilly 12.
So I went back to bed. I woke up and just chilled for a few hours blogging, reading, sending emails, sipping some coffee. Talked with both Su and A. Then I finally decided to drag myself out for a run around 1PM. (Of course it ended up being 1:45 before I got out the door)
It was absolutely gorgeous out today. Sunny sunny sunny. It was in the 40s. Of course I didn't check that and was a wee bit overdressed assuming it would be 30. That was okay luckily I layered properly today.
Decided to just run out and back from the house. I was running down lakeshore and noticed a disk golf park on the left so I did some off roading. Very cool park. Some wicked holes set off on little trails in the woods. I followed the course around a bit and then ended up at the lake. Nice little public beach that I had no clue about. Took some pics but I just had my Phillips key cam so nothing too high tech. I will have to go back with my real camera. I ran along the beach a little bit but was kept from running the whole thing by a flock of geese (I don't mess with geese anymore since the attack!) I am so glad I took the jaunt off the sidewalk and into the park. I can't wait for this summer! I am totally getting in a lot of open water swims!
I hopped back onto Lakeshore and ran another 50 blocks or so then headed back. I took the mp3 player today and "Let's Get it Started" came on about 15 minutes from the house so the last 15 minutes of the run were very good tempo. I felt great. It was so nice to get out and run at my own pace. Sometimes a solo run is just what you need! Not sure how far I ran today, will have to googlemap it later but I got in 46 minutes.
Got back and hurried off to my inlaws for dinner. On the way WCPN was playing Jazz at the Lincoln Center. Some awesome sax solos that I was jamming to the whole drive. Got me super pumped up to play again. So on that note I am off to practice!

Way to Go Su!
Everybody drop by Curly Su's blog and congratulate her on her #1 age group spot this morning at her indoor tri! (she was 2nd overall I believe! Way to go!)
Awesome job!

Uggh
Not enough sleep. Watched the Godfather part I and II last night and didn't get in until late. My left arch is a bit tender. Hopefully nothing that a little ice won't help.
Did pilates yesterday and I have decided to try to do pushups everyday. Hah! I did a total of 8 before I dropped. Oh well. I am weak ;)
And I think I am going to run later on my own. Just can't will myself out the door this morning.

Met up with the TNT crowd this morning and got in around 12 miles. Got to run with a few different people this morning but started and finished with my mentees. For the first 11 miles we were averaging around 10 minute miles. I am getting better at easing the pace, but it is still a struggle. Picked it up for a half mile out to meet with the last group, then walked that half mile back. Those poor girls missed their turn around point so they ended up with 9 instead of 6 miles :)
Looking forward to tomorrows run with SERC. It is about time I did the 12 loop again.
My husband just asked me why the acid title. Clarification- LSD= Long Slow Distance

RBFers in AZ next week?
Just a quick shout out. I know that Tammy, Kurt, Bella, Commodore, Tri-Mama, Elle, Josh, Jayhawk and I will all be running next Sunday January 15th in the Arizona Rock N Roll marathon or half marathon. Are there any other RBFers out there making the trip to sunny Arizona?
Let me know. We should all meet up for a picture after the marathon finish!
Since Tammy is doing the event with TNT and I will have a bunch of Ohio friends there with TNT I was thinking we could all try to meet by the TNT tent? TNT always has a tent located near the finish so it is a locale we can rely on for sure. Any other ideas are welcome though! (Maybe a casual restaurant nearby where we can grab some post race food and beer while we wait for everyone to finish? Or a good landmark within the last mile of the course?)
I won't be getting in to Arizona until Saturday and will just be doing a quick run through the Expo just before it closes to ease planning for my family (Going to the Cavs game that night, woot woot!). So it would definitely be more ideal to meet up before or after the race on Sunday.
Leave me a comment with your planned finish time and I will try to organize something. Since I am only doing the half I am hoping I can get back out onto the marathon course to cheer, take pics, help run in etc. (depending on how my legs feel ;)) For those of you that have never witnessed me as a spectator you are in for a special treat :) Let me know what you plan on wearing so I can spot you more easily!!! I think I will be wearing my pink Wild Bill Tee. But if it is too warm that will switch out to either a blue sports bra or my red boston tank. For spectating though I should definitely be wearing the wild bill tee and matching hat!
Aack I need to get a cheap pair of sunglasses for the race with the quickness. I am only allowed to wear my ugly ones in Tris :) (They make you faster!) and I lost my good pair at the last half, boo.
