An old post

Original Post can be found here. Not a very good recap. I believe my writing skills have indeed improved since starting this whole blogging thing in 04.

In answer to the queries. Yes I was attacked by a goose :) Luckily it did not end in any injuries and now is funny and quite a good tale. At the time I was terrified, of course :)

If I could only explain to you the sound I heard and how clueless I was to it's source until the damn goose was almost right on top of me. It sounded like a freaking helicopter coming at my head. In retrospect I have no clue how my husband convinced me to walk back by the stupid goose to get into the apartment. I should have just gone around the long way. That goose was out for blood, mine! That goose smelled the fear in me and he couldn't wait to get his webs on my bike rack! I think my husband would have been fine, the goose wasn't concerned with him at all, that is until he started chasing him away from me with my purple flip flops.

Ahh memories :)

Unfortunately since the night of "The Attack" I have been extremely wary of geese. I go way out of my way to avoid them. This can be a real pain while riding your bike and running. Better safe than sorry though right?

We brought up the story at David's grandparents on Christmas. His grandfather told us about this goose that used to hang out at the pond he fished in. He said the goose was always hissing at everyone, scaring the crap out of them. One day the goose snuck up on him and stuck his neck out and started hissing at him. This is exactly how his grandfather reacted according to him. "I grabbed him by the neck and kicked his ass." I laughed so hard :) He said that goose never bothered him again.

Don't worry about the cutting in line thing...there wasn't officially a line, so it doesn't count! :-) (Should I wear a cloak and be on the other side of the confessional!?) :-)

I say listen to the grandfather. He is old school and probably knows what he's talking about. You gotta show the goose who's boss.

I always run past the geese w/no problems. I know they can be aggressive, but I've never heard of them attacking without being provoked. That must've sucked! Sounds like you had a nice run on Sunday! Nice photos.

Remind me to post the nice picture of me feeding like twelve swans (which are USED to getting fed - there are little stands where you put in money to get swan food).

What the picture doesn't show is the massive swan attack that occurred right AFTER the nice picture ...

(I believe and hope that the reason there is no picture of the attack is because my friends were assisting in my defense, but I think the true reason is that it was too difficult to focus the camrea while laughing one's ass off.)

I have heard that Geese make very good "watch" animals. You know...a flock of geese in the yard might be better than a dog. Because geese are darn right mean. Swans are too. A couple of years ago, someone on a jetski got too close to the swan nest on my parent's lake and the swans attacked and almost knocked the person OFF of the Jet-Ski. I give the swans a wide berth in the summer time. I have heard that swans can kill small dogs.
